When people hear of my strange relish making profession, first they look at me sideways to make sure I’m not joking, then proceed to ask “so how’d you come about making this then aye?”. I remember the first few people I told cracked up laughing and well, so did I. It is quite a conversation starter… and it really surprises me how genuinely interested people are in how I started ‘relish this’ and why. It seems so many out there are keen to start their own little venture and create something to make a difference, and want in on the secret. I wish it was as simple as sharing a secret. Many are stuck with ‘what’ to create and how to start. I suppose it’s a catch 22 at the beginning, as the more you look for what ‘it’ is (yes I’m referring to your passion), the further it flies away from you – which is hideously frustrating (yep been there). But, once you sense a tiny part of ‘it’, even more of ‘it’ is attracted into your life and if you let it (or notice it), it will positively consume your daily life, thoughts and actions… well that’s been my experience anyway.
The craziest thing is, deep down in every one of us we already know what our ‘passion’ is. Sadly, I think the daily working grind of today’s society to “earn a living” can hinder our natural ability to sense and realise what that really is. Walking away from my ambitions to ‘make it’ in “the corporate world” and my career was very difficult as it went against my logic, my bank balance, my experience and my life learnings. It was not a decision I made lightly and took over 6 months to make, then another 3 months to go ahead with! I won’t deny the fact I have ALWAYS wanted to start my own business in ’something’ since I was 19 years old, but dreaming it versus doing it is a totally different kettle of fish. I also realise not everyone can just get up and walk away from their source of income but one thing you can try to do is mentally walking away. Keeping your mind free of ‘work gunk’ will free it to notice more about yourself. Which can only be a good thing for you. relish meeeeeeeeeee!
Anyway to back up my promise to provide empowerment via this blog, I seriously want to help everyone find their passion and if I can do that by simply sharing how I found mine then so be it (more coming on this topic). I will continue to blog on this topic with the hope I can help someone, somehow. Believe me (and Oprah says this too) when you find something to do with your time that you genuinely love (and do it for the good of it, not the dosh), money will take care of itself and the world will mysteriously look after you. xx

Dear Sarah,
It was great to meet you last Saturday at the Sydney Sustainable Markets at Taylor Square. not only is your product truly yummy but the advice and inspiration that you gave to me in those few short hours were invaluable. I am still working out my options in terms of the markets but I reall hope that you and I are on the same day as I have a lot more questions and picking of your brain to do. If not I will definatley keep in touch via email.
Take care and I hope to see you soon.
Thank you again.
