I think it is time to bring out a new product line for relish this. After many requests for a pickle I’ve decided to start playing around with them and bring a few out. A pickle is actually a relish, and is commonly a fruit / vegetable pickled in vinegar (i.e. gerkins/dill pickles, pickled onions, pickled beets etc).
So what do you think – “pickle this. It’s not just for poppas” !? teehee. I love the play on words and think it fits nicely into our ’saucy’ n sexy range of relishes and cheeky branding. I’m keen to keep ‘relish this.’ on all of our products as ‘relish this’ is our overarching business brand, and a pickle is also a relish so it all fits together ok. I’m not sure how to include the pickle this and tagline on the labels yet. Hmmmmmm something to think about later.
I was given a *secret family recipe* for a sweet n sour, bread n butter pickle from both sides of my family, and evidentally the recipes are identical! So much for a secret recipe?
This prototype you can see in the photos is the family recipe (exactly to the recipe, no tweaks made yet) and I will be tasting it later today to make sure it still has the important *crunch* (made it 7 days ago). I will also be passing it out for tastings at upcoming markets over the next few weekends to get some of your feedback. Primarily, this small prototype 2kg batch will be used as the base recipe to create a new ‘relish this’ version of a bread n butter pickle. I’ve already got a few ideas of what to add and tweak it with, and looking forward to developing new versions very soon!!!
So what do you think? What pickles do you love? What flavoured pickle do you want to eat with your cheese?? Do you have any suggestions? Do you wanna get pickled!???

pickling.

prototype pickle.

Hi Sarah-I personally don’t like cucumber unless it’s served fresh, I always get Maccas to “hold the pickle” on the rare occassion I dine in that establishment, but I love that you are coming up with all these great new ideas for product and are putting it out there. Well done xx
Val, you’re the best. Sorry to hear you can’t appreciate a spunky cucumber pickle, I reckon you’re missing out!
Will have to see what you think of mine once I finalise the recipe perhaps? Thanks for sharing your support and writing a comment or two on here, its great to know someone is reading this! xx
